Very pic heavy post
Well, our trip was fabulous. I really didn't want to come home. Ruth & Ernie are such good friends & we have such a nice time visiting with them. We are very blessed to have many couple friends like that.
Anyway, our flight up there was uneventful. We discovered the beauty of flying with a baby - skipping to the front of the huge security line & pre-boarding on the plane! I was a bit apprehensive about Addison on the flight, mostly because I didn't want to be the person on the place with the crying baby.

Everything was uneventful & we arrived with Ruth waiting for us outside of baggage claim. We picked up McDonald's on the way back to her house & I think we hung out there for the rest of the day. She made us a yummy chicken stir fry & Asian beef & noodles for dinner. We skipped church & just relaxed at home.
On Thursday morning there were snow flurries! I was quite excited & we held Addison to look out the window for her first snow. Ruth & I took the girls to Target. First, we settled in at the Starbucks there with our peppermint mochas & nursed the girls. I also changed Addison on my lap for the first time & of course it had to be an incredibly dirty diaper that called for two wipes. We spent quite a bit of time looking around at so many different things. Ruth bought a gorgeous leather coffee table that was more kid friendly than what was in her family room.

Thursday night we all went out to dinner with Ernie's sister & her husband & son (they live in the same neighborhood). We went to a little Mexican place that was pretty good aside from the bug Ruth found in her food!
On Friday morning Stephanie came over with her son Ethan. Ray has known Stephanie since the third grade & she now lives across the street from Ruth. She is also married to the the brother of the guy Ernie's sister is married to (make sense?). :) Anyway, we had coffee/tea & little goodies & chatted.
Brunch: Ray, Ruth, Stephanie, & Ethan.
Ruth made some yummy chicken pockets for lunch & then we got "Little Miss Sunshine" on demand. I had been wanting to see it for so long & I enjoyed it! There were some parts that really made me laugh. After the movie I helped Ruth in the kitchen. She made quite a feast of a delicious pork tenderloin on salad, full of homemade marinades & dressings. Ernie's sisters family came over again as well as his Mom who came up from D.C. to bring his sister's daughter home.

Now, let me say, by Friday my lips were incredibly dried out. There was tabasco sauce in some of the sauce on the pork tenderloin. My lips were so dried out that when I ate the pork the tabasco burned my lips & made them kind of numb. It's almost a week later & I'm still feeling some weirdness on my lips, I had never had them feel so numb like that before.
Saturday Ruth made us cheesy eggs, sausage & homemade (by her mom) wheat toast for brunch. I loved the toast, it reminded me of the bread my mom used to make! We then headed out to Amish country in Lancaster. We went to some outlets - a very pricy kids store, Pottery Barn outlet, & a Carter's outlet. I resisted & didn't buy anything! We also stopped at Target so I could pick up some infant tylenol. Addison got her first fever that day, it was very low, but I wanted some tylenol on hand just in case. It said for dosing to ask a doctor so I left a message at my dr.'s office. My actual pediatrician called me back! I was quite impressed. I was even happier when she said that she didn't think I needed to give Addison anything, that we didn't want to medicate her if it wasn't necessary. (the highest I clocked her fever was 99.9 & it was pretty much gone by Sunday)
We ate dinner at Bird in Hand, a buffet style place. I hadn't eaten at a buffet in a long time. They're not really my favorite kind of places (all of those germs from everyone coughing on the food) but I do enjoy all of the options. :) The place was packed with Amish, too!
Sunday was church, which for us girls pretty much meant nursing our girls & trying to keep them calm (oh well). There was a potluck after church that was quite tasty! Also, other people were holding Addison the entire time so I actually got to sit down & eat! We skipped the second service & went home. Ruth & I left the girls with our husbands & made a quick trip to Starbucks (I got Ruth hooked on those peppermint mochas - I also exhausted the rest of my gift certificates!), TJ Maxx, & Walmart. As part of Ruth's gift to Addison we found a really adorable dress that I may use for Easter. We also stopped at this little winery close by their home that was really cute & quaint.
We made it back to the house & the boys headed across the street to Stephanies home for the Super Bowl. Ruth & I headed over with the girls a littel later. We didn't stay for the entire game but there was a bunch of good food & I had fun hanging out with the different people there. Ruth & I left early & claimed the tv at her place & rented "You, Me, & Dupree." I heard it wasn't very good so I had low expectations about it & ended up enjoying it!
Unfortunately, when I took my camera out at church in the morning I found out I had forgotten the memory card at the house & then I was too lazy to grab the camera on our way to the Super Bowl get together. So, no Sunday pictures. :(
As we already know, Monday was our fabulous Ikea trip (LOVE that place) & it was also supposed to be the coldest day that area had in years. On our way to Ikea we first stopped at Starbucks to warm up. :) When we arrived at Ikea it was around 9 degrees outside. I'm not used to the cold weather so I had to check with Ruth on how to get Addison into the store along with the sling & such. SO, I took off my coat, put on the sling & stuck Addison in it & then got out of the car & tried to quickly get into the store. Yes, NO COAT! I truly don't know if I'd ever been in weather that cold before, aside from possibly when I was a baby. Anyway, the first thing we did was sit in the cafe & nurse the girls, then we (window) shopped, sat in the cafe & ate & nursed again, & then walked the bottom floor of Ikea. It took awhile to get home (bad directions) & Ernie was already home when we got there (he took off early). The rest of the night was spent relaxing at home & eating leftovers for dinner.
Unfortunately, on Tuesday we had to head home. I really didn't want to head back. Ruth & I made one last Starbucks run (I got to sample an Almond mocha, it was pretty good!) & returned some stuff to TJ Maxx.
Before going to the airport we did a photo shoot with the girls. Ruth has the same outfit in two different sizes that her mother-in-law gave her so we dressed Addison & Karine in matching outfits & took lots of pictures. They were so cute! I absolutely LOVE Karine's chubby cheeks!
Naked before the photo shoot. :)
I love how both of their little legs are hiked up in the photo.
Yes, they really are holding hands, they did this quite a few times while we were up there.
I liked Addison's closed eye smile in this one.
On our way back to the airport Ernie called to tell us about an accident on the Interstate (a truck with explosives hit a car or something & all lanes were closed in both directions) so there was a bit of a panic as to if we would make it in time for our flight. We took back roads & made it with about 30 minutes to spare.
On our way to the airport.
