the essence

Around this time of year I start to get the itch to go to camp. Since 1997 I've gone to Camp Horizon for at least a week for most summers - even if I don't go for a week I go for a visit. And, this year, we can't go! I'm SO bummed!

Because Ray just started with this new company we can't afford to take time off right now (that's why we went to KY before he started with this new place). This week is when we'd usually go too, when Conrad is the weekly director. During the start of summer the weather & smells outside remind me so much of camp at times that it really makes me want to go.

Saturday I was also getting the itch to go back to Boston & sit with my breakfast from au bon pain (why can't we get those down here???). I fell in love with their orange scones (I know, they don't even really qualify as scones) & the fact that they discount all of their baked goods half price in the evenings!

I love Boston. We first went for part of our honeymoon & then we were able to go back just two months later (in July) for some business training Ray had. We stayed just on the outskirts of Boston & right across the street from a huge mall. I loved it. While Ray was in training during the day I'd take the metro into the city & walk around. I'm such a city girl.

Anyway, I find that when a certain time of year comes around I begin to want to do the same things I've done during that same time in previous years. Just watch, in the Fall I'll really be wanting to go to NC & PA to visit Ruth!
