What a day! Addison turned one on Friday! (how is that possible???) We had her birthday party at our house Saturday. A few people were unable to show up but we still ended up with 47 people here for her party. Not bad for a one-year-old. :)
I was crazy (okay, actually I just enjoy doing crafts & stuff while I watch tv) so I made the invitations, decorations, & favor holders.
I also made a completely-from-scratch chocolate cinnamon cake with a buttercream meringue frosting. I had never made the recipe before so it didn't taste exactly as I'd envisioned but it was still pretty good. It was four layers & I put rasperry jam inbetween some layers (I love chocolate with raspberry!). I also discovered that meringue doesn't really hold up well in Florida (novice mistake). I made some little cupcakes for the kids (we were expecting 18 but ended up with 16) & a little mini-cake for Addison.
For the food we had BBQ pulled pork, black beans & rice, french fries, & salad. It was gorgeous outside & I had so much fun. You've got to love Florida for some things - eating outside in December. It got a little hot indoors but we only really went inside to open the presents.
I had so much fun! I love having people over & we have such great friends & family!
