the essence

The past couple of days have been a bit surreal going from being completely fine one moment to crying the next. Thankfully, my family had already planned to come to town yesterday & stay the night so that was a nice treat to look forward to & also a nice distraction.

Tomorrow is my mom's birthday so we had her open her gifts last night. I got her this cool kids book called The Time Traveler's Journal. I had seen it in the store so I ordered it online last week. I was concerned it wouldn't arrive in time but it showed up on our door step shortly after my family arrived yesterday! I've already read the entire thing, I thought it was a lot of fun.

This morning we had a group of about 20-25 people join us at the USF fields to play soccer in fifty-eight degree weather! (What happened to 78 degrees like the news was saying???) My family came along & we even got my dad to play. I got beat up pretty well, I'll probably have some nice bruises popping up soon (I'm still sporting one from our game last Friday).
