Saturday night we ate dinner at The Speckled Butterbean, a tiny real southern country buffet.
We were visiting Ray's dad so he took us out to dinner. I think he really likes the place, he seemed pretty excited to be there & kept bringing us food from the buffet.
The place was so tiny & quaint. There was this little old African American lady who would come out of the kitchen once in the while to check the food status (she was the cook) - it was like something out of Fried Green Tomatoes! There was a tiny buffet stand against the back wall & with the decor & clientele I totally felt like we could've been visiting my grandparents in Kentucky.
The food was good - fried chicken, mashed potatoes, some of the cheesiest macaroni & cheese I've ever had, lots of greens & the desserts were bountiful! Strawberry Shortcake, peach cobbler, pecan pie...delicious!
