My midwife made her home visit two weeks ago. I love that she walked into my house & said, "Okay, show me where you want to give birth." I'm definitely the kind of person who needs that kind of freedom. This is what I showed her:

If all goes according to plan the baby will be born in our tub! I loved Addison's water birth & I can't imagine not giving birth in the water now.

I also, finally, have all of my birth supplies together:

All kinds of goodies in there. The birth center gave me a list of things they want me to have on hand. Hopefully I won't need everything - like all of the plastic liners & two sets of extra sheets, assuming I do have another water birth - but I still have them on hand. There's also fun things like lots of rubbing alcohol, olive oil, hydrogen peroxide, and a container for the placenta. Yep, "packing" for a home birth is just a tad different than packing for the hospital.

The item I'm most excited about wasn't on the list at all, but I remember the midwives mentioning it when I was having Addison:

You cover the overflow drain with this little deal & you can get a lot more water in the tub. My mother-in-law went to my prenatal appointment with me last week & heard me ask the midwife about them. On Saturday, she gave me one that she went out & bought for me!!! Wasn't that sweet?

My midwife also told me not to go into labor before Wednesday. Wednesday is the "Great American Teach-in" where people go into schools & talk about their careers. My mid-wife is going to her daughters' elementary school & asked me to go along so that the students can hear my babies' heartbeat!

While I feel very ready to have this baby, I'm not in any rush. I'll admit that last week, I was actually a little freaked out about labor. Anytime I felt like it could maybe be starting I felt like I might not be able to do it. I finally deducted that I was feeling anxious because I simply wasn't feeling well. The sinus infection knocked me out so bad that I just couldn't imagine going through labor feeling that rotten. Now that I'm doing better, I feel much more confident & excited again!
