Yesterday was not our day
It really began on Tuesday. I started to feel like I may be getting mastitis. I sat down to teach piano at 5 & suddenly felt like I was coming down with something. I had such a difficult time making it through that hour. By the end I was aching & had a very low-grade fever. It must've been mastitis because it can mimic flu-like symptoms.
It took about 3.5 hours for Addison to finally get to sleep that night, too. She then woke up in the middle of the night with a fever close to 103. We spent yesterday dealing with that & I was still trying to feel better myself.
Yesterday I also ended up with one of my borderline migraine headaches & I was without any painkillers. I finally went to the store to get them & while I was there my dad called. He told me my grandfather had just died.
It wasn't unexpected; he's been so sick & he was 87-years-old. Honestly, nearly every time my dad has called me over the last 5 years I thought it was to tell me my grandfather had died. It still doesn't make it any less sad, though, & I ended up bawling my way through the grocery store. (kudos to the young male cashier who asked if I was ok & then told me to feel better as I was leaving)
Addison's fever peaked around 104 last night & we were finally able to force some tylenol into her & I gave her belladonna throughout the night. I was up about 4 times through the night, but I'm happy to say that Addison's fever seems to be gone & I seem to have overcome getting a serious case of mastitis.
My dad left last night to drive up to Kentucky (where my grandparents live) which is a tad worrisome as they are having severe icy weather right now. I don't think we'll be able to make it up for the funeral, I just don't think it's feasible right now.
All I know is that today, thankfully, already seems to be better than yesterday.
