the essence

I love summer. I know it's sweltering hot, especially here in Florida, so I don't think it's the weather I love so much as it is the idea of summer. When you're a kid that means break! Vacations! Pools, beaches, ice cream, watermelon, cook outs, camp, VBS, & for me, reading contests at church!

VBS started for us last night so that's just one more thing that I love about summer going on right now. We were able to make our work schedules this week so that we're only missing one night (tonight). Even though Addison's not quite old enough for our age cut-off for VBS she's still there "unofficially" as Ray & I are helping out.





Addison actually did really well sitting through the first lesson & was very excited at the end of the evening to receive her very own, very large (for a two-year-old) Snickers bar.



Ray is totally set on trying to get her to memorize some of her verses - even though she's a little young to participate Nathan said if she gets the points she can win one of the fish - Ray was very excited about this, definitely more so than Addison!
