34 on the 25th

Friday was a big celebration in our house as we partied it up for Ray's 34th birthday! It started off with a big breakfast of skillet fried potatoes (my favorite!), waffles, bacon, and grapes.

Ray wanted to spend some family time at the park for his birthday so we went out to Lettuce Lake, which is a wonderful park with all sorts of boardwalks.

Addison was telling me, "there are turtles in there!"

Addison kept talking about going on the slide but then would only go down it twice. I went too, slides are fun no matter how old you are.

I still had some piano to teach in the afternoon, including the child of one of Ray's old high school friends. He & Ray reconnected on facebook & they're the sweetest most thoughtful family. The husband is Vietnamese & the wife is Thai & totally out of the blue she cooked us a Thai meal for dinner on Friday! It was so sweet & a totally great day for it as I hadn't planned dinner. It was delicious, too!

Also last minute Ray's mom came over & watched the girls for a couple of hours while Ray & I went out to Barnes & Noble. He & I both commented how nice it was to go out without the kids. Ray also kept telling me what a great day he had - I even indulged him & let him pick a slightly scary/suspenseful movie for the night & watched it with him!
