There is just something about that show that reminds me of Fall & I have some of the tapes that my mom recorded the show on when it first came out - she has no need for the tapes as she now has the the show on dvd, but I hold on to those slightly fuzzy & wobbly screened VHS episodes just for this time of the year.
Yesterday, spur-of-the-moment, Ray's mom took Addison about an hour before my first shift ended & kept her until bed time! This meant I had six hours of time with only one child in the house before I had to get back to work, which means I was actually able to do most of what I had set out!
I popped in the first-ever GG episode & then made the pumpkin bread so that I could smell it baking while I decorated. If only it still wasn't in the 90's outside.
It's most definitely hotter here this year. I was just looking through my posts from last September & right about now we were getting mornings in the 60's! With the scorching, deep, sweat-inducing heat we've been having I just don't see cool weather like that in our immediate future (I do hope I'm wrong!).
Even if we don't get cooler weather here soon, it's looking like we'll be leaving for a drive North East in just three weeks! I'm about to jump out of my skin with excitement! We really hope it will be timed right to see some Autumn color.
Pumpkin Bread
Preheat over to 350 degrees.
3 cups sugar
1 cup oil
4 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
3 1/2 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups pumpkins (1 14-ounce can)
Mix all of the ingredients together. Makes two loaves (also good as muffins & mini-loaves!). If you want to make it a tiny bit healthier you can do half oil & half applesauce.
Bake for one hour.
