The BEST day!!!

Burned out were the words of the day Friday when Ray declared that we would use some of our unpaid leave & take Saturday off from work. I was excited & shocked because Ray always insists that we work. It doesn't matter if we're sick, throwing up or have pretty much lost our voices, we always work out of necessity. So, when he said we were taking off Saturday I knew he was feeling as exhausted & overwhelmed as I've felt.

We arranged a morning babysitter with "Grandma & Pop-pop" & went to Barnes & Noble just the two of us where we indulged in coffees, kissing, magazines & two hours of time alone. We were both in much better spirits for it! Ray also perused People's sexiest man alive issue with me & he & I debated over which of those guys really should be counted as "sexy." Lot's of fun & I informed him that Johnny Depp was an excellent choice but that Jerry O'connell in a speedo is a big turn-off!

When we got home we cleaned a bit, & while that may not seem very romantic it was much needed as I felt even better once that was taken care of. We also had a gift card to Olive Garden so we took the girls there for an early dinner! It was so nice out so we ate outside on the patio.

I must tell you that Addison is very excited about turning 3(!) in a week & whenever she sees somebody new she holds up three fingers for them to let them know it's almost her birthday. Addison did this to the hostess at Olive Garden & talked to her about her birthday. Apparently the hostess got such a kick out of this that she had a birthday cake sent out to Addison at the end of our meal complete with singing (& no charge to us!). What a nice surprise! (The leftovers were a nice surprise for Addison's Sunday School class this morning!)

After dinner we went to the outdoor mall for the symphony lights ceremony. Every night during the holidays they have the lights on the Christmas tree timed to music & last night was the opening for the season. We missed the beginning & it was packed!

A poor little boy had passed out so a fire truck came. Addison wanted to talk to the fire man & again, felt the need to let him know she is turning three.

Kate slept almost the entire time at the mall, but woke up long enough to point for me - one of her favorite things to do now, along with clapping & folding her hands when we say it's time to pray (it's SO cute!).

We also had a free movie rental to top the night off! It was such a great day! Today Ray said exactly what I had been thinking - that this weekend has been better than our vacation last month! It was a huge mental boost for me, I feel better today than I have in a long time. In fact, I feel the most like my "old self" since I have when we started this job back in March!
