Before the fire incident on Saturday we were having a lovely time with Ray's dad & step-mom. We met them at their place in Dade City & drove a couple miles to their neighbors' house who was having an invite-only sugar cane syrup boiling shindig. I don't think I've ever felt like I was more in the country while in Florida.
It was a vast piece of land & you couldn't see any other homes around. There was a huge barn & the guy has been collecting old farm tools for years & the place is just COVERED in them. They also had a blacksmith there & I just love watching them make things. I find it so fascinating & Ray's dad is now signed up for a weekend blacksmithing course. They also had animals, banjo players & of course biscuits with cane syrup!
Our next stop was the tree farm to find our "perfect" Christmas tree. I think Ray was less picky than last year & I was perfectly happy just to get something semi-decent looking. I must say, after growing up always having a fake tree it is so much more fun actually going out to hand pick which tree you want each year & having them cut it down fresh!
It took four days, but we finally had enough time together as a family to decorate the tree last night. It seems really sparse to me this year, I'm not sure what's different. I would really like to get some garland for next year, I don't remember if I usually have some up or not! Target has some pretty ones this year, I hope some will be left when they go on clearance!

Thank you.
It's pretty funny to see people choosing Christmas trees with no snow around! I'm in Ottawa and there is about 1.5 feet of snow around and it's freezing. I'm quite envious of your summer attire!!
It looks perfectly normal to me - it was 42 degrees here yesterday (107.6F)! I love that photo of Addison surveying the landscape.
That water pump is like the one we used when I was a kid, after we finally had a cistern built.
