Romantic Getaway

We made it home today, after two wonderful days away.

On our way to Orlando we first stopped at IKEA, where I walked around with Clay while Ray took the girls with him to Bass Pro Shop (where they ran into Erin & Nathan & their girls, also in Orlando for the weekend!).

We dropped off the kids around 5 & then drove over to Park Avenue for dinner at Panuello's. It was a little chilly out but they had turned on the heaters so we ate outside on the sidewalk. We enjoyed Caesar salad, grilled chicken pizza & a chicken & pasta dish. We asked our waitress to take our photo. She had NO CLUE how to use a digital camera. As in, she held the camera up to her face only she was trying to look through the lens! So, on the screen Ray & I had a view of her very huge eye. It was hilarious! When we got her to turn the camera around the correct way she wasn't pushing the button down all the way so when she finally got it I was taken a little off guard but I think the photo still turned out okay.

After dinner we walked down to the new little chocolate shop & bought some truffles to take back to our room. We made it to the hotel, checked in & began to veg. And, the chocolates were absolutely divine.

One thing I love about staying at Hampton is the free breakfast in the morning & the unlimited 24-hour coffee out in the lobby. I really take advantage of that.

We stayed up until midnight watching Juno (Ray had never seen it) & I then set my alarm for 9:00 so that we wouldn't sleep past breakfast in the morning. There was no worry for that as I was only able to get myself to sleep until 8:00. That's still a lot of sleep though!

The day was primarily spent relaxing in our room. It was wonderful. We explored the plethora of channels (it's amazing how little there is too watch even with so many channels) & we did get sucked into Bridezilla. Yikes!

Ray also had a conference call for a meeting at church in the afternoon. While he was on the call I took a nice leisurely shower & made myself all pretty (I wore my new dress & you're going to have to take my word that it looked wonderful as we didn't get any pictures). I came out of the shower to find an empty hotel room. None of Rays' belonging were gone but he wasn't there. All of a sudden the armoire began shaking. I opened the armoire doors only to find Ray inside, smiling. "Did you think it was a boggart, Honey?" I got such a laugh out of that! (The man is currently reading Book Five in the Harry Potter series.)

We went out to Barnes & Noble with every intention of going to Carrabbas for dinner only to end up wanting to relax in our room some more. So, we brought a pizza back instead & just stayed in the rest of the night.

I slept horribly last night. I didn't toss & turn but I kept waking up thinking "surely it's time to get up now." I think I was so inactive on Sunday that my body wasn't tired enough to sleep well! I don't remember the last time that happened, I spend most of my days in near constant movement.

After breakfast & packing we went & picked up the kids at my parents' home. I missed them! And, I especially missed Clay, I think partly because he's the one who still needs me. Even though we were only about ten minutes away I had the little nagging in the back of my mind: "What if he won't take the bottle? What if he runs out of milk?" Plus, he's the one who is all smiles for me with no talking back (yet!). He's easy to miss. It was fun to see the girls again, too, they're so full of personality & make me laugh!

We drove through pouring rain & made it home, back to the grind. I went grocery shopping, made dinner & bathed the kids & Ray started his six-midnight shift.

I've also been battling terrible allergies for the last week & I've been really congested. It got worse while we were away & I must've blown my nose too hard tonight & I gave myself an ear ache! I don't ever remember having one before & it was excruciating. I took ibuprofen & did some home remedies & it seems to pretty much be better now.

Because I slept so poorly last night I'm now exhausted & I think I'm going to turn in early!
