I should be working right now. I'm at work. But it's been a slow week, everyone else is in a staff meeting, & I have nothing to do. So I walked the dog.
Our office is next to a residential area & I like to walk the dog down to this one house about a block away that reminds me of my grandparents in Kentucky. It's up on a little "hill" (read ever-so-slight-incline) & the same kind of look as my grandparents - all white, with the faux wood siding. There are shady trees around it, with the sun shining through to the short super green grass. One of my favorite elements is the clothesline. Its a rusty old thing, in a square shape, under a tree, smack in the middle of the yard - across from the bench swing. I suppose something about it all is just so picturesque.
When I look at it I get a little smile on my face too, I'm really not sure why I like that place so much. But I just stand on the side walk (while the dog does her business in the bright green side yard) & stare at the house/yard because it always reminds me of Kentucky.
Speaking of which, I got a little tingle of excitement today when I realized that we leave for our vacation a week from tomorrow. First stop is TN to see Ray's grandfather for a few days. We bypassed him on our last trip because of how ill my own grandfather was. Next, we'll be heading to Kentucky where I know some good ol' fried cooking awaits us. Then, at the tail end, we'll be going to Asheville, NC to visit the Biltmore in celebration of our wedding anniversary (we love it there & it feels so appropriate since that's where we got engaged).
Of course one day at a time, there's still so much going on for us in every day life right now that I barely ahve time to think about next week!
