the essence

For reasons that I can't seem to fully explain, I've been anxiously looking forward to the start of Fall this year. The official start date changes between September 22nd & 23rd & I had thought it was the 22nd this year, or tomorrow. Unfortunately, after further research, I discovered the official start is not until the 23rd.

I've really been looking forward to setting out my Fall decorations & baking delicious Fall treats. But, I have this thing (I think I got it from my Mom) where I don't like to set out decorations early. My holiday decorations don't come out until after Thanksgiving.

I think part of my excitement over Fall this year is that we had just moved last year & I didn't get out my decorations until around November, after we got back from our Fall trip. And, that trip was fabulous. It was so cool up North & Ruth had some of her decorations out & it was so nice to bake & cook with the cool weather & dark shadows. We also got to see a bunch of leaves changing. I think this will be the first year since we've been married that we won't be taking a Fall trip - not that I feel I need a vacation, I just love traveling that time of year.
