Tuesday I went with Rachel & little Ruth to see the pediatric neurologist. At Ruth's six-month check-up she was referred to several different specialists.
Unfortunately, the neurologist (who's bedside manner left much to be desired) didn't give the best news & he only gave us any kind of hope when we asked what his experience had been right before we left.
Ruth was diagnosed with a small head (she is seven months but her head is around the size of a two-month olds) & as being developmentally behind. So, she has to start physical therapy, go for a CT scan on the 31st & possibly an MRI later (she'll have to be sedated for both).
The doctor gave us the news that it could be legions, cysts, her skull fused together so her brain can't grow.... But, when we asked, he said that most patients he sees like this start physical therapy & catch up to other children by a certain age. Given the genetics of smaller heads in Ruth's family & her status as a twin, this is very possible for her.
So, I wrote that out to ask you to please pray that all is well for Ruth, but also for Rach & Conrad. This is a lot of stress to put on first-time parents!
