the essence

I'm a pretty DIY kind of girl but never before had I cut off eight inches of my own hair. Never before last Friday.

Yeah, I was that desperate.

I took a pair of kitchen scissors(!), went to the bathroom & wet my hair, flipped my head over, & started to cut. I didn't make it very far before I thought, "Oh my goodness, what did I do???" I finished, flipped upright, & was pretty pleased except for the length still in the back. I flipped again, cut a little more, & still had too much length in the back.

So, after dinner I called Ray into the bathroom, handed him the pair of scissors & got him to chop off the length in the back. I was laughing so hard during the process - he'd never cut hair before & didn't quite follow my direction.

He leaned back with a puzzled look, "I think it's a little crooked," & then went back in with the scissors. He tried to reassure me, "Don't worry, Honey, it'll be the layered look, it'll look good."

When all was said & done it really wasn't too bad. I'm just so happy to have it shorter!!! And, Ray was pretty pleased with his work, he kept telling me how good my hair looks.
