the essence

I still feel like I'm not back in the swing of things since the long weekend. I had a fabulous time, though.

We were at Heather's in-laws all day (love them!) & on our way home we stopped for more Starbucks, Target & Marshalls. I made stuffed mushrooms for dinner & we reminisced looking through my photo bin. We marveled that we've known each other for 20 years already, which you can't usually say when you're in your early twenties.

Monday morning Ray left super early to go tubing with some friends & Heather & I lounged around the house watching The Office (how can someone not like that show?).

She left around noon & I jetted off with Addison since I had the car. Unfortunately, most everywhere I needed to go was closed for the holiday so we spent most of our time at Barnes & Noble & the Health Food Store.

Yesterday I spent two hours alone, the first time I'd been alone in a week except for a quick 30 minute shopping trip last Friday. I relish my alone time.

Addison & I also went with Ray to a home where he's doing handyman work. After about an hour we left him there & went to the bank, post office, & thrift store (3 of the places that were closed on Labor Day). It was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders getting those first two errands run & the thrift store was just for my curiosity. Sometimes you really can find a good deal. Yesterday I found this adorable 24m pink dress for Addison. It came from The Children's Place & I bought it for less then $3!!! I can't wait until it fits.

So, that's my narrative of the week thus far. Stay tuned for more excitement.
