When I was younger my family always vacation by driving. While it may have added time to our trip it also allowed us to visit more places than if we had flown. I remember one time visiting our friends David & Renee in Charleston, South Carolina.

What a beautiful city! One thing I love is how historic the downtown area is in Charleston. There is so much history. There are so many beautiful old buildings with quaint hidden courtyards along with the gorgeous plantations right on the water. One of my favorite memories of our visit was going down by the water to this huge dock over the ocean. It was HUGE. They had these fabulously large porch-style swings on the dock. I remember that all four of us young girls were able to sit on the swing with our dads. We even have a picture of it. So much fun!
