So, Caroline flew in at 4:15 on Thursday, less than two hours after we arrived home. Ray was kind enough to get her from the airport so I could tidy the house a bit.
Caroline was here for less than three days so we made the most of it by going to a movie Thursday night after the kids went to bed. I told Caroline I made sure to save some of my garage sale/Christmas money just so we could go out & have fun while she was here!
We caught He's Just Not That Into You & I had so much fun! I really enjoyed the movie, but I honestly don't know how much of that enjoyment simply came from being at the movies for the first time in a year. Or the double shot of espresso I got on our way there. Either way, it was definitely a fun chick movie.
Friday morning we went & had breakfast at Don Pan, a little bakery by my house that was run by the funniest older man. We got such a kick out of him.
Next: coffee at Starbucks, drop Addison off with Ray, & then Caroline, Kate, & I hit the outdoor mall for a few hours. Caroline found some of the cutest stuff & I even came away with a new top & necklace. We needed to refuel so Caroline treated us to Moe's for lunch. Delicious!
After shopping & more shopping we went home so I could teach piano...which was then cancelled less than 30 minutes before it was supposed to begin (all three of them!). A slight relief, other than the fact that the money would have been nice AND I'd scheduled our day around the lessons. Anyway, I made us pizzas for dinner & Ray's mom picked up Ray & Addison & took them to her place so Caroline & I could go out again.
We ended up just going to Target and, of course, getting more coffee. (Have I mentioned that Caroline not only treats me to stuff while she's visiting, but she always buys me a generous Starbucks gift card, too? That's the kind of house guest I'm talking about!)
After we picked up Ray & Addison & got home we started watching Mamma Mia! I was so tired I couldn't make it through so we ended up finished the next morning while Ray was at soccer.
Saturday we dropped Ray & Addison off at his grandmothers in Tampa because she was having a garage sale. I then took Caroline to the most heavenly place, Choxotica. Seriously. It's to die for. You've never had a drink like this before. And, of course, Caroline treated.
After all of the sweetness, we drove to South Tampa & decided we needed MEAT. I took her to Five Guys - they have some of the best burgers and fries! After Five Guys we went to Bayshore and just walked around the Bay. The weather was so beautiful and perfect for walking around the water. After the bay we walked around the village in Hyde Park for a bit where I wanted to buy about half of Anthropologie and take it home with me!
It started getting dark (& chilly!) so we headed home but stopped for some groceries on the way. After putting the kids to bed, we had our Valentine feast for three:
Apples, aged gouda, greek olives with feta, spinach dip, bread, and champage. It was delicious! Ray was surprised that it was actually filling. We also watched The Negotiator (I know, so romantic) although I fell asleep pretty quickly.
Sunday we were up & out of the house early to drop Caroline off at the airport for her 8:45 flight home. We headed straight to church, had our International potluck afterwards, and then I went home and CRASHED. I was exhausted. I'm not young enough for fun & busy weekend like that.
