I've never paid much attention to Veterans' Day before but, now that Ray works for the government, it means he had the day off yesterday. Plus, the girls' dance/gymnastics class is through the city rec center so their classes for the day were cancelled, too! I still had some prep to do for the mommy shower tomorrow so instead of a family day Ray took the girls to Busch Gardens & I kept Clay with me to leisurely(!) run errands & work on stuff around the house.
What a novelty it was to take my time in the stores & not rush! I was in heaven. Really. Ray & I discussed this plan early in the week & on Tuesday all I kept thinking about was the day to myself I would have on Thursday & the seemingly limitless possibilities I'd have with my alone time. (No, I don't suffer from "mommy-guilt." I know I put in a lot of quality time with the kids so I don't feel bad when I get to take some time for myself.)
Joann Fabrics=so much better without multiple little hands trying to touch all of the fabric as you walk through those narrow aisles.
Target=a lady of leisure with my gift card. I love being able to settle in with a free coffee & look at the magazines while nursing Clay. It's so nice getting that relaxing time to myself. And, then, even looking around the store for a bit!
Starbucks=coupon for a free sandwich!
Home=MORE relaxing (hey, I take it when I can!) with MORE coffee & watching a show on the computer. I also was able to finally clear out some of the huge mess piled up in my room & the girls' room. I vacuumed again. I couldn't believe how fast I was able to vacuum without other people running around the house.
I didn't even have to make dinner since I had leftovers & Ray took the girls for fast food on their way home. Which means I cleaned the kitchen in the middle of the afternoon & it stayed clean all night! Hurray!
It seems the girls had a lot of fun, too. They even met Big Bird, Cookie Monster & Abby.
Addison is obviously thrilled beyond words & Kate looks none to sure that Cookie Monster isn't about to eat her.
And, they LOVED the huge swings. There wasn't a line so when the ride was over they'd just stay on the swings & go again. While the other kids were holding on Addison was flapping her arms to the side pretending to be a bird. I love it.
I'm so glad the girls had fun & the alone time was great for me but I think sometimes just having a day different from the norm is refreshing!
