Movies, Friends and Yard Work

I've been trying to find lots of fun things to do with the kids over the summer. For one, to make it feel a little different than the rest of the year. Also, there tends to simply be more activities for the kids over the summer!

The last three weeks we've met up with different friends for the free summer movies at the theaters. It's a bit of work but it's fun! It's also really nice that they let you bring in your own snacks for the kids (& Starbucks for the mommies!)

Yesterday we went again with Briana & her girls. By the time I got home it was well after noon s I quickly fed the kids & shipped them off to their rooms for their rest time. I needed to work out but didn't feel like. I decided I'd rather do something productive that also counted as a work out so I decided on some yard work.

Our yard is in dire shape & I don't know which gas can only holds gas & which is gas & oil etc. so I started the mower & went as fast as I could to mow as much of the lawn as possible before I ran out of gas. Thankfully, we have a pretty small yard & I was able to mow the front & sides in just 15 minutes! I got a bit done in the back too before I ran out of gas.

It felt good to not only be productive but also get some good exercise!

In the afternoon Sophia made the hour and a half drive to our place with her two boys to hang out for awhile. We ate ice cream, let the kids play outside & they joined us for dinner. Her youngest & Clay are just about a month apart.

Ray worked last night & the kids were so exhausted that they went to bed a little after 7. I felt the need to burn more calories (ha!) so I went outside & pulled weeds before settling in for a Criminal Minds marathon. A seriously addicting (& slightly disturbing) show. I watch one episode & it's great. The second one it starts to get a little creepy. And, a third is too much. Still, I just get sucked into those crime shows!

On another note, here's a picture of a "bird" from our budding four-year-old artist. I have to take photos of her drawings because she likes to draw everything on the magna doodle!

The bird was actually looking pretty good & then Addison began taking more creative license with it. I really like, though. My imagination is small so I appreciate some creative license!

That bird picture is really cool! Very symmetrical too. I hope to get her drawing in a sketch book when she comes in July.

I love Addison's drawing! Bethany still uses her Megasketcher (cheaper and a lot smoother than a Magnadoodle) every day and she turns 7 next week :)

Mom, I tried to get her to draw her pictures on paper for me, but, all she'll draw are squiggly lines & tell me it's a snake. :)

Amy, I've never heard of a megasketcher, I'll have to see if they're available here.
