the essence

I didn't mean to fall off the face of the earth, the week has just flown by without me realizing it. Plus, we've started watching the second season of 24. We watched SIX episodes on Tuesday night. SIX. I'm kind of glad we don't have the rest of the season yet because I needed a little break. I actually dreamt about terrorists that night.

And, it's been COLD the past couple of days! I had my house open Tuesday evening & when I woke up yesterday morning it was in the 50's! This morning it was in the 30's! I know it's February & all but this is Florida.

We've also been dealing with a toddler who's perfecting the art of temper tantrums and manipulation. Last Wednesday it felt like all I did while Addison was awake was discipline her. My mom told us that Megan & I never had tantrums; Megan did once & she distinctly remembers it. My Dad piped in that he had tantrums when he was little so maybe Addison gets it from him. I can only hope I'm dealing with them in the right way. The good news is that she seems to have improved a little already but kids can change their actions so fast who knows what we're in for in the future.

In other news, I'm leaving to get my hair cut in about an hour! My mom gave me her coupon for a free cut at Ulta so I'm using it today. I'm SO excited! This is huge for me because it will be my first time to go out & get my hair cut. Prior to now our dear friend, Renee, & my mom (who was given a little instruction by Renee) have always cut my hair. Then, of course, there was the incident last summer when I was so fed up with my hair I cut it myself & then had Ray cut the back.

Renee does such a fabulous job with my hair that I'm curious to see what the sylist will do at the salon. Even Ray made that point. I don't care though. I'm sure they won't butcher my hair & it will grow out soon enough if they do.

One more thing, I'm very excited because my friend Caroline is coming to visit next week! She came down last year in February & she wasn't sure if she'd make it this year but she was able to pull off a little bit of a later trip. We don't have any big plans but I do know we have little plans of drinking coffee. I just hope the weather will be warm!
